In my teens, I once knitted socks: red knee socks in a bulky yarn. My boyfriend, now my husband, had a motorcycle and we thought red, knitted kneesocks would look nice with his black, leather suit and boots. And indeed, we liked it! We have no photographs of that outfit. I don't even remember how I knitted them, but I presume without any pattern! But now, I wanted to learn to knit 'real', regular socks. With a real pattern. So, I searched on the internet and found this book:
| That's the way to knit 'real' socks! |
Very clear explanations ! I searched for my old knitting-needles: we called them 'knitting irons'. My next step was a visit to the LYS, where I bought colourful yarn.
And the result was this kind of socks:

The first try were socks for me, then for my husband, our children en their partners. We all agreed on the fact that knitted socks were much more comfortable to wear than the socks you buy in the stores. Last year, my husband bought a motorcycle again, no leather suit but knitted 'real' socks!
I don't have pictures of all the socks I made, but believe me, it is quite a collection. I carried my WIP (work in progress) everywhere.
This was the beginning of my knitting journey two years ago. Nowadays, I think I'm ('really') addicted.....
